We were passionate about the idea of holding several strategic planning sessions pursuant to the request of ministries in charge of the youth professional career guidance implemented by joint efforts.
“It was a great pleasure for us to work with EDGE. This allowed several ministries to unite their endeavours in achieving an important goal – to help young Ukrainians with finding themselves in the future labor market and understanding it. In parallel, to offer guidance to the young people on acquiring the most relevant competencies and skills for starting and building their own career,” maintained Mr Olexandr Yarema, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports.
What tools and services are beneficial for young people in building their career in Ukraine based on informed choice? What should be changed for a more efficient career guidance and counseling? What tasks the Government should implement so that a young Ukrainian would take into account both – his/her own interests plus competencies and also the labor market forecasts?
Following a dynamic brainstorming, the ultimate and interim outcomes of the youth career orientation policy for 3 years have been set for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the State Employment Service. Problem analysis and decision-making were held jointly with the civil society activists, youth, employers, educators and international partners, including colleagues from the Career Hub platform, GIZ, the American Councils for International Education, and Ms Yuliya Savostina from the Made in Ukraine project.
Subsequent group discussions allowed to identify specific and achievable activities that would allow achieving the defined results. Next, it is planned to develop a set of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of the interagency strategy.
Sure, this will be done in line with the results-based management approaches.
